No country for old men is a western thriller, based in America, with a Villain who no body likes, and he goes round killing many people. This thriller could be based on a Villain who many people do not like hired by a hit man to go and kill certain people. This is targeted to older people, as it is more of an action film and it is based around the early 1970's from which most of us was not born that are alive today.
In the opening scene, many people would say it is boring as all it is doing is being based around loads of films. Well it is based around loads of fields but there is also non digetic sound with it. This is because we can see what is going on, but the sound is not relevant to the actual scene. Right at the beginning of the thriller, the Villain is hand cuffed in a police station. Some how he manages to get out, and then chocked the police officer to death, allowing himself to move away from there.

Through out the film, hardly anyone speaks, which makes the thriller more exciting as we think as an audience something is going to happen. Also the costume of the characters, where either all black or a western police outfit, which was popular back in them days. These all wear make up, this is to stop themselves from sweating, because if they do it could show, which could ruin the scene.

A Thriller is a range of different types of sub-genres that overlap. These have to follow specific rules as it has different effects on each parts. Thrillers normally tend to be fast paced, irregular action and villains who tend to be the good ones but are not.

An example of a thriller is North by Northwest. This is typical olden day film which is based on a blonde lady that becomes very popular. She falls in love with ThornHill who is the main character. She then sees that he is in trouble and there are bad men after him. So she decides to help him which puts the impression that she is a nice lady who is trying to help out another person. She then decides to go onto a train with him where they then see the bad them which had followed them. They did not see ThornHill and the blonde lady let him in her little room on the train. Once she gets rid of them, they talk and fall in love which makes us also think it is a bit romantic. They then stay in a hotel room overnight which she then gets a phonecall. She leaves ThornHill in the room whilst she goes out and we don't know where she has gone so it makes the audience think. He follows her, which leads him into a auction bidding building. He see that the blonde lady was sitting there with two of the men, so he went over there and confronted them and her which she did not like very much. He then see that all of the bad men were there, so he came up with a magical plan that we as a audience was not expecting at all. ThornHill kept shouting out a load of bids, which he did not want, but he wanted to get kicked out so he could loose them men. He did get kicked out by the police which was a very smart idea. Also during the middle part of the film, he got dropped of by a bus in the middle of no where, just fields and wheat. We then see a plane in the sky, which you normally see so we thought it was just flying by. Instead it was one of the bad men, which wanted to kill ThornHill and to get revenge. Throughout the whole film it put us on edge as we did not know what was happening, many events happened and we was not expecting them.

There are many thrillers and types of genres. Firstly there is action thrillers such as Taken 1 and 2. Also the film Dexter is another thriller and form of action. There is also horror based thriller films such as Final Destination. There are old time thrillers and action and romance. Also North by North West and The Birds are also classed as thrillers and are typed as different genres.

Suspense and shock is where the tension builds up, and your anxiety gets high, which means you get more glued to a part of a thriller, mostly a horror film, and it could give you a shock as the suspense has been building up. Also the audience in Alfred Hitchcocks films experiences suspense when they expect something bad to happen and believe something is going to happen, but they in fact the characters they think it is going to happen to end up powerless.

MacGuffin is a plot device, which is in the form of some goal. A MacGuffin also insists of money, victory, glory and power. It gives the audience a clue of what might happen, but sometimes it does not. It is the plan of a thriller.

Alfred Hitchcock is a film director, mainly thrillers. He directed many films such as the birds, North by North West and Physco. He was born on on the 13th August 1899-29th April 1980. He produced many techniques, many things that many directors would not think off. He made the suspense and shock realistic. He has a successful year in the British cinema, directing in silents films and many early talkies. He then removed himself from the British cinema and replaced himself in the Hollywood area, which he then started filming there. He filmed films, and camera angles to make people anxious, scared, and fear. Alfred loved to base these thrillers on things that he would suspect that would happen in a real life situation. For example the birds, this film was based on birds that attacked many people, mostly children and he thought this would of happened in the real life. He also loved to film with Cary Grant as they had such a strong bond, and he featured in most of the thrillers that Alfred produced. Many thrillers that was produced also had cliff hangers in there, making you wait until you find out what has actually happened. Also at the end of the films, there was many twist endings, leading into many mysteries and mysterious plots. Hitchcock directed more than fifty films, he featured many of them in a career spanning time of six decades. He was well known back in the 1980's and he is well known now as many people say he is widely regarded as one of the cinemas most significant artists.
