This was our preliminary task which was called the Deal that featured Me, Dylan Smith, Emma Porter and Jack Martin Kenny. Dylan and Emma filmed most of this film as me and Jack were the main characters. It was about a deal, which involved money and drugs. First of all we did the match on action, which involved Jack walking through the door. First of all Dylan filmed Jack opening the door and walking through it. We then had to pause it and wait for him to get to the other side, and then he filmed from the other side Jack shutting the door behind him. I was sitting on the chair with the drugs beside me on the floor in a package. When Jack then sat down, we did the eye line match which was me looking at the package, and Dylan filming me looking at the package but then looking at Jack. When me and Jack exchanged a few words before i handed over the package and he handed over the money, we got filmed so there was a shot of me, then him then me then him. It carried on until we finished exchanging a few sentences and then he handed over the envelope of money. After handing me it i handed over the package, but it glided across the table to him. Dylan then filmed us shaking hands and Jack stood up and walked through the door. We then did another match on action shot from where Jack walked through the door again, we filmed from both sides. After that I filmed which then Dylan and Emma became part of our deal. They walked through the door which was a match on action shot, then Jack filmed them walking in towards me which I had to make sure I was sitting down as I was before. Dylan then asked me if I have the money and I said no which then Dylan shot me. Jack took a shot of Dylan shooting me, as when we edited the film we put a gun shot onto it. He then took a shot of me on the floor dead as Dylan shot me. After that Jack filmed Emma picking up the money that i dropped when Dylan shot me. I then filmed them walking out of the room quietly single file through the door which was another match on action. This film was one minute and nineteen seconds which was not long at all. We used all the techniques accurately, trying our hardest to include them which we did. We made many mistakes, such as talking throughout it when filming so we had to edit it out. Also we got someone in our film that we did not want to happen so we had to edit him out too. When Jack was filming at some parts he forgot to stop filming which made the film go on much longer than it should of which meant that we had to edit parts out, and put some music through what bits we did not want to hear. Next time we would want to make sure we are in a quite place, with no one around, and make sure the class room or wherever we are is plain and simple so we have time to film. We need to keep eye on the time and we ran over time.

Die hard of Revengance
Die hard of Revengance
This films was about a two men. There was two boys that see something suspicous. This was one of the men standing in the middle of the street with a poster over the top of him saying ' I hate niggas'. The other man got annoyed as he was black and went out there. The man that had the poster over him was attached with a gun on his back, just incase anyting happens to him. The black man that see him went over to him, to ask what he was doing and that if he carries on standing there the group of kids standing on the stairs would come over. They did and started on him, punched him, kicked him, bottled him. The other man that found it rasict helped the white guy as he told him that something has happened, and that he needs help. So the guy that found it rasict helped the guy getting beat up, jumped in a car and drove away, with objects still getting thrown at them. They then kept getting phonecalls through the police station from another guy, the bad one in this thriller film, telling them that he and his team are going to bomb a load of places. These then wanted to save many people, so they had to take orders and play a game called Simon said.
First of all, he planted a bomb on a train. One of them had to go and get it of the train whilst the other one had to get to the phone at the station for 1:00pm. He did, but the guy that got the bomb on the train, got all the way to the end of it, allowing the passangers to move to the oppisite end, and when he went to throw it out the window it blew up, which destroyed the train and most of the passaengers died. The white guy did not, which suggests that he is a strong and willing person. They then found out that they was going to blow up a variety of schools around the area, which made them rush and go to each one to go and unplant the bomb. The first school they went to, whislst attending the school they left the train station unattended. That meant that the bad guy and his team went to the train station, which then killed the workers that was their, and then searched for the gold, and once finding it loaded it up onto the big trucks that arrived outside. Once loading it up, they drove the lorry's down the motorway. The good guys unplanted the bomb, and got another phonecall. They then see the lorry's with the gold in them and followed them. They then lost the trcuks, but then found them again which allowed them to get some clues and ideas.
They found where they stored the gold, and then waited for them to go and then to see where they were going. They then departered from there base and drove off. They then see the boat, which had the actual gold on, and they didn't know how to get onto the boat without jumping so they zip-lined down their, but where the car slipped they dropped. They then had to sneek behind and thorugh everyone to find the guy that has done all of this. They had to fight on the way, getting battered more and more but suriving through it. The black guy went and found the man, then went to go and shoot the bad guy but the gun was not working, and he took it off of him and shot the good guy in the leg, which made him drop to the floor in a matter of seconds. The white guy passed a tall big man, who then started fighting. They did and the good guy won, and he then see that the bomb was about to blow up, and when getting to zero he soon realised it was a fake one and the school was not going to blow up. He sat down and started crying, and then the bad guy walked in with the black guy and then said they will blow up. They got tied to a pole underneath the boat in the basement, which allowed the bad people to get away onto another boat. The lady shot of of the bad guys, and herself who is a bad guy too. The two good men were tied up together with handcuffs, but then the black guy pick locked it and they got away. The ran across the boat right to the end and had to jump into the sea as when they jumped the boat blew up as the bomb exploded, and they survived as they jumped into the water. They then got their cuts and that covered up, and then they wanted to go back to find them which they did as they was at their basement again. They shot the string of electricity when the bad guy and lady was in the helicopter and it blew up which killed them. The good guys never got their gold back, but killed the bad guy and lasy which made the bad group weaker as their leader had been killed.

No country for old men is a western thriller, based in America, with a Villain who no body likes, and he goes round killing many people. This thriller could be based on a Villain who many people do not like hired by a hit man to go and kill certain people. This is targeted to older people, as it is more of an action film and it is based around the early 1970's from which most of us was not born that are alive today.
In the opening scene, many people would say it is boring as all it is doing is being based around loads of films. Well it is based around loads of fields but there is also non digetic sound with it. This is because we can see what is going on, but the sound is not relevant to the actual scene. Right at the beginning of the thriller, the Villain is hand cuffed in a police station. Some how he manages to get out, and then chocked the police officer to death, allowing himself to move away from there.
Through out the film, hardly anyone speaks, which makes the thriller more exciting as we think as an audience something is going to happen. Also the costume of the characters, where either all black or a western police outfit, which was popular back in them days. These all wear make up, this is to stop themselves from sweating, because if they do it could show, which could ruin the scene.

A Thriller is a range of different types of sub-genres that overlap. These have to follow specific rules as it has different effects on each parts. Thrillers normally tend to be fast paced, irregular action and villains who tend to be the good ones but are not.
An example of a thriller is North by Northwest. This is typical olden day film which is based on a blonde lady that becomes very popular. She falls in love with ThornHill who is the main character. She then sees that he is in trouble and there are bad men after him. So she decides to help him which puts the impression that she is a nice lady who is trying to help out another person. She then decides to go onto a train with him where they then see the bad them which had followed them. They did not see ThornHill and the blonde lady let him in her little room on the train. Once she gets rid of them, they talk and fall in love which makes us also think it is a bit romantic. They then stay in a hotel room overnight which she then gets a phonecall. She leaves ThornHill in the room whilst she goes out and we don't know where she has gone so it makes the audience think. He follows her, which leads him into a auction bidding building. He see that the blonde lady was sitting there with two of the men, so he went over there and confronted them and her which she did not like very much. He then see that all of the bad men were there, so he came up with a magical plan that we as a audience was not expecting at all. ThornHill kept shouting out a load of bids, which he did not want, but he wanted to get kicked out so he could loose them men. He did get kicked out by the police which was a very smart idea. Also during the middle part of the film, he got dropped of by a bus in the middle of no where, just fields and wheat. We then see a plane in the sky, which you normally see so we thought it was just flying by. Instead it was one of the bad men, which wanted to kill ThornHill and to get revenge. Throughout the whole film it put us on edge as we did not know what was happening, many events happened and we was not expecting them.
There are many thrillers and types of genres. Firstly there is action thrillers such as Taken 1 and 2. Also the film Dexter is another thriller and form of action. There is also horror based thriller films such as Final Destination. There are old time thrillers and action and romance. Also North by North West and The Birds are also classed as thrillers and are typed as different genres.
Suspense and shock is where the tension builds up, and your anxiety gets high, which means you get more glued to a part of a thriller, mostly a horror film, and it could give you a shock as the suspense has been building up. Also the audience in Alfred Hitchcocks films experiences suspense when they expect something bad to happen and believe something is going to happen, but they in fact the characters they think it is going to happen to end up powerless.
MacGuffin is a plot device, which is in the form of some goal. A MacGuffin also insists of money, victory, glory and power. It gives the audience a clue of what might happen, but sometimes it does not. It is the plan of a thriller.
Alfred Hitchcock is a film director, mainly thrillers. He directed many films such as the birds, North by North West and Physco. He was born on on the 13th August 1899-29th April 1980. He produced many techniques, many things that many directors would not think off. He made the suspense and shock realistic. He has a successful year in the British cinema, directing in silents films and many early talkies. He then removed himself from the British cinema and replaced himself in the Hollywood area, which he then started filming there. He filmed films, and camera angles to make people anxious, scared, and fear. Alfred loved to base these thrillers on things that he would suspect that would happen in a real life situation. For example the birds, this film was based on birds that attacked many people, mostly children and he thought this would of happened in the real life. He also loved to film with Cary Grant as they had such a strong bond, and he featured in most of the thrillers that Alfred produced. Many thrillers that was produced also had cliff hangers in there, making you wait until you find out what has actually happened. Also at the end of the films, there was many twist endings, leading into many mysteries and mysterious plots. Hitchcock directed more than fifty films, he featured many of them in a career spanning time of six decades. He was well known back in the 1980's and he is well known now as many people say he is widely regarded as one of the cinemas most significant artists.

What is a Thriller?
A Thriller is a broad genre of a literature, film that uses
suspense, tension and excitement. It gives the audience a high expectation of
what’s going to happen next. It gives many people emotions, as they can feel
the genre of the film. Thriller films tend to be really fast, slow and loud.
Thrillers tend to make the audience think, as it puts them on edge.
Examples of Thrillers:
North by North West
Taken 1 and 2
The great Escape
What is a cliff hanger?
A cliff hanger is a plot device in a fiction film which
features a main character in a difficult dilemma. A cliff hanger is hoped to
ensure the audience will return to see how the characters resolve the dilemma.
Also a cliff hanger puts the audience on edge, sometimes when a thriller film
ends you don’t know what happens, and then you want the next film to come out,
it puts you on edge and that’s called a cliff hanger.
What is a red herring?
A red herring is an idiom that refers to a logical fallacy
that misleads or detracts from the actual issue. For example in a thriller, you
will think a character is the bad person, but in fact someone else is as they
would change the plot of the story.

Written Assignment
The story we was trying to tell was three lads going to watch West ham. Firstly Jack Martin Kenny and Dylan Smith was talking and arranging a time to go to watch the football. After that they was talking about football. We got some of the shots, for example the close up shot, the pan shot and the bird eyes view shot. For some of the shots we didn't get as the facilities of the school was good enough and as the other years of the school kept coming down the corridors, we had to stop. I myself used many shots to capture the video we wanted to capture. The close up view i used the most as i was not confident using some of the others. We used the pan movement to show the quick movement between Jack Martin Kenny and Dylan Smith. As they was talking about football, i quickly moved the camera back and forth. Also when they was walking around the hall i tilted the camera and then followed them around, which was also quick movement. Our choices were successful to an extent. This is because sometimes we took some camera shots it worked out, and it looked realistic, where as some of the shots didn't work out and we had to delete some parts. Next time we take a video, we need to take our time, and get better facilities.
I think we held the camera shots steady, as part of it was on the tripod. I held the camera in my hand we I interviewed Dylan and Jack because it was a extreme close up shot, but looking at the video my hand was shaking and that leading to a part of our video that was not consistent. Each shot that we took, we framed it appropriately using the right equipment for each shot. Next time we take the shots, we could find a better surface to stand the tripod on and also we could use the dolly for the quick movement shots. Also when filming our shots we need to take more time because some parts of it we rushed and that also leaded to a bad part of the video.
The positive aspects of our filming that we did i think are the close up shots, and the bird eyes view. This is because we accurately took the shots, taking our time. Also we chose a place where no one was, so it looked realistic. We would need better equipment with us to make it look even more realistic but i think we did. The video we uploaded to our blog and onto you tube looks realistic and goes on for a reasonable amount of time. In our film i think we need to take more time, find a much better environment to take the footage. Also i think we need to get more people into our filming as three people was not enough. We need someone to be consistent with the camera, making sure they are doing everything correctly. Overall i think for our first time of filming and uploaded a piece of footage, we succeeded and next time we film another piece of footage, we will do much better.
